Improving The Cybersecurity Posture of K-12 Schools & Districts

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Over the past few years, K-12 schools have experienced frequent cyber threats from bad actors looking for money and personal information such as Social Security numbers. Ransomware, phishing, and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks are especially prevalent in the K12 education sector, challenging CTOs and IT teams that are already stretched thin managing many different technology functions.

With limited resources to apply to cybersecurity, how can school and district CTOs and their teams tackle the challenge of cyberthreats most effectively?

The NIST CSF – Cybersecurity Framework – is a great start. Attendees to the presentation 5 Efficient Ways to Align Your District’s Cybersecurity with the NIST CSF will gain a deeper understanding of:

1) The idea of risk “tolerance” and how to define your District’s acceptable risk tolerance, identifying your security gaps along the way.

2) The NIST CSF and the five functional areas that comprise the framework: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover.

3) The five specific cybersecurity services and controls that will align your District with the NIST CSF and provide you the strong cybersecurity protection you need to keep your systems and people safe
